Were you married at the Kingdom Hall ? How bad was your wedding reception ?
by run dont walk ini'm just wondering...... i remember going to some wedding receptions for couples who got married at the kingdom hall,.
and i hate to be mean but, super boring, and bad, how bad you ask ??
ok here we go ..... - the worst had to be one couple played kingdom meolodies for their wedding dances, i couldn't believe it.. - no alcohol (i'm sure we all experienced a few of these), reception was over by 9:30.. - no music at all, just a gathering of people, and they ended the reception with a prayer, i thought i was at an assembly.. - food, like if you can't afford to get married don't, like frozen stuff bought at your local grocery store, and still in the package when you got up to the tables, how tacky.. - you could always tell a couple who couldn't afford much, when you had to drive 50 miles into the back woods to find some dinky little community hall they rented for $100.. - i remember one where the bride was pregnant, i was really surprised they allowed them to use the kingdom hall.. - another classic was, they had this band (of all jw's of course) and man they were bad.

Yes, Prisca I am, but so were they, that's what made this unreal, no lie I think it was about 60 miles out of the city, down dirt roads, no lights on the road, got to the place finally, it was falling apart, I laugh about it now, but it was bad.

Funerals ??? How about The Watchtower funeral home and graveyard ???
by run dont walk inhey, they could make a fortune, have it behind bethel, jw's would pay top dollar to be buried there.. are there any rules regarding funerals ???.
are you allowed to donate your body parts to science or medical help ???.
the watchtower is so concerned about association, i'm surprised they would allow you to be buried beside a "worldly person".. so, the purpose of this thread is .......... are there any rules, regarding how a body is disposed of, and if you can use the kingdom hall, have a gathering afterwards ???.

Not much is ever mentioned in the Watchtower on this.

- another, I knew the couple fairly well, and they got this brother to do their wedding pictures, and he forgot to take a piece off the camera (I think it was the cap), so he took all these pictures and the next day realized he had rolls of film with nothing on them.
So, what are some of your horror stories, or maybe everything went okay, love to hear them.

Jehovah's Witness break off group?
by freedom96 inthere have been many discussions on this board about the hope that we all have that the wts organization would tumble.. some have thought that the internet will play a big role ( i think so), others think that it is abuse issues, others still think it might be doctrinal issues.. if the wts was to take a fall, would there be a break off group in your opinion?
would there be the die-hard witnesses that would start a division, take over perhaps?
would some governing body members go one way, and others go another way?

A question asked many times, will the Watchtower collapse ???
Unklikely, if you are making a billion dollars a year PROFIT (that's the key, not gross amount), it would seem unlikely you would ever run out of money, regardless of how much you are spending, but maybe I'm thinking in a one person mode, instead of a huge organization mode, it would depend on what the Watchtower's TOTAL expenses are for one year. And if all the lawsuits (if won) would make a dent in it.
But for the sake of argument, lets say it did collapse, there would DEFINITELY be new groups forming !!!!!!!!!!
There are so many older people that will go to their grave believing regardless of what happens, and believe they will wake up in "paradise earth". You will NEVER be able to convince them otherwise. My family a perfect example, I tell them things, they agree with me, but say that dreaded phrase "IT HAS TO BE TRUE !".
And aren't all religions more a less abreak off of another religion ???
Maybe even someone who never was a JW, could look at the religion, pull out a few doctrines,
- live forever on paradise
- make blood ok
- stop the prediction game
- make a unlimited heavenly class
- no door to door
as a few, and poof you have a new religion, and the first thing they would say to start the religion is ....... (I heard a lot of JW's say this about Russel when you question his teachings)
they had the right idea, but just didn't understand how to do it properly. (new light)
So as I have said many times (alot of people have)
Never say Never, cause anything can happen.

Could you ever go back ??? What would the elders ask/make you do ???
by run dont walk innot meant to give anyone nightmares !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
i'm sure we will all answer no, but for the fun of it, what would have to happen for you to return to the kingdom hall,.
and what would the elders/judicial committee say to you if you wanted to go back.. do you think even if you returned with a new attitude, that you would always be "marked" by the congregation.. should get some interesting answers !!!!!!!!!

I've always wondered about the 1935 BS that heavens doors were closed.
Does the Watchtower still firmly believe this ???
was this started by Rutherford ??? if yes, why are the rest of his teachings faded away, especially Beth sarim and Abraham's return.
Who could possibly think for a moment that God would close his door at a certain time.
People are getting smarter and smarter, technoligy is getting better and better, so wouldn't so called Christians be getting better and better and more knowledgable and understanding.
We have all witnessed this over time, and a 100 years from now that generation will be even smarter then the smartest ones today.
Maybe the Watchtower is a little worried.
So, any explanations on how they came up with 1935 ???
